Depressing Drought.

Well, Ladies and Gents, it looks bleak for Somerville, this year. After an “eyes on” inspection and some research as to chances for a reversal of fortune, I cannot see any sailing on Somerville this year. The lake is very much diminished and there are sand bars visible on or near the surface over much of the lake (Except right in the channel. Which is only about 30 to 40 yards wide). I understand it would take a tropical storm drenching the entire watershed for a couple of weeks to raise the lake enuff to even have a chance at sailing on it without major concerns of hitting the bars and to have enuff lake to sail on. Any gains that are made is lost to the required “draw off” for cities and responsibilities, downstream. You know the drill.

So, as much as it pains me, I am gonna have to withdraw Ides of March from the schedule, this year. I will miss seeing you there, this year. We will hope for better conditions, next year, and hopefully resurrect Ides from the vise-grip of the drought.

My wife’s uncle has a lake house on Conroe and its a land front lot right now. So this season the dike will probably be the spot for most people hopefully we will see some of you at 10 Mile too.
