Holiday-In-Dixie Regatta

Ahoy Cat Sailors,

Shreveport Yacht Club will take a different tack in 2012 by hosting our annual Holiday-In-Dixie Regatta over two weekends. Notices of Race for each are posted on our website.  By splitting the event into two parts, our members will be able to volunteer their support on one weekend and race on the other.  It ought to make the regatta experience more fun for all.  Last year 49 boats participated in Holiday-In-Dixie.  If you sailed with us then, tell your friends about the great sailing at SYC and encourage them to attend.  You should tell them about the steaks, too.  Here’s our 2012 Holiday In Dixie schedule:

April 13-15, 2012 – HID Part 1:  Texas Sunfish Racing Circuit #1, LA-TEX Challenge; Hobie One Design Classes, Division 14 Points Regatta; F18 Catamarans of all makes

April 27-29, 2012 – HID Part 2:  Keel boats, other one-design classes, Portsmouth classes (Sunfish and any make of catamaran may compete in Part 2).

I’m looking for a Hobie “A” Fleeter to volunteer for PRO duty during Part 1 and we’ll cover expenses.  If anyone is interested, please let me know.

On a personal note, I told many of you back in the fall about my plans to move from the Shreveport/Bossier area.  Since then, our plans have changed and it appears that we will stay here indefinitely.  I look forward to sailing with you for many years to come.

We hope to see you at HID in April.   Please pass this along to your sailing buddies and post the NORs in your clubs.  We’ll have the NORs on the SYC website and lists of pre-registrants soon.  http://www.shreveportyachtclub.memberlodge.com/

 Thanks,
Mark Van Doren

One Response to “Holiday-In-Dixie Regatta”

  1. Holiday In Dixie now has a Hobie approved PRO – we are a “go” for HCANA points. Part 1 will feature separate courses for Catamarans and Sunfish. We are anxious to accomodate Division 6 Hobie and F-18 sailors.
