We are excited to announce that another distance race is in the works for 2011 along the gulf coast!
Cat Alley is putting this event together and invited Fleet 33 aka Surfside Sailing and anyone else who wants to participate to join in on the fun! We will be using the Surfside Sailing webpage to update the details of the event as they are released so keep an eye here. We want to encourage everyone to come out! If you have never sailed on the gulf before it’s a very rewarding challenge if this interest you contact Art Vega and sign up then come out to 10 Mile or Cat Alley before the race and we will help you gain the needed skills to truly enjoy open ocean sailing. Art has sent me the following details:

I am excited to announce After many promising dates and having them get dropped for one reason or another we have found one that fits as well as possible.

The RIPTIDE RUN will be held on JULY 2nd, 2011.

It is 13 miles from Bermuda Beach (Cat-alley) to the Riptide bar on the Seawall at 9th Street in Galveston. If all goes well maybe we can leave Surfside next year, 43 miles.

The Riptide Beach Bar is on a private beach, however we recommend bringing money to purchase your drinks.

The logistics relative to advertising, awards, entertainment and food will be E-Mailed to everyone when they are developed.

There will be all different styles of boats. If anyone knows how to handicap CATS please let me know.

Please RSVP to this E-Mail address artvegaii@yahoo.com so we can get a head count.
